Exoskeleton return policies by country: Hypershell, Dnsys and Amazon

Both brands advertise 14-day returns. Their written policies are narrower, and they change with the country you buy from and, at Dnsys, with the configuration.

The short version

  • Opened units. Dnsys accepts change-of-mind returns only for unopened, unactivated units[1]. Hypershell’s policy, Help Center and product page don’t agree on this; ask before you activate the unit.
  • Model exception. Dnsys won’t take back or exchange the X1 Carbon Pro[1].
  • Country limits. Dnsys doesn’t support returns from Canada, accepts UK returns only for quality problems, and doesn’t mention Australia[1].
  • Fees. Dnsys keeps payment processing fees on refunds and cancellations and deducts return shipping for non-defect returns[1]. Hypershell states no restocking fee but can deduct return shipping when no defect is found[2].

Return conditions in the written policySection 4.1 lists defects (critical failure, manufacturing or functional problems), confirmed transit damage, and a unit that is “unopened, unactivated, and in like-new condition”. Section 4.3 excludes units showing use beyond what is needed to assess them; the US, UK and Canada pages also exclude returns missing original accessories, manuals or packaging.[2, 3, 4, 5]The policy does not say plainly whether an opened, activated unit with no defect can be returned.

Buying on Amazon instead

Amazon’s help pages say most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are in original or unused condition, and that used or damaged returns can be charged a fee of up to 50% of the item price[9]. Those are Amazon’s terms for its own sales; the brand policies above cover the brands’ own stores, and Dnsys says its policy applies only to dnsys.ai orders[1]. Hypershell says products bought from an authorized distributor may be covered by that distributor’s warranty[10]. On a marketplace, check who the seller is before you buy.

UK buyers: the statutory cancellation right

UK government guidance for sellers says that customers who buy online can cancel within 14 days of receiving an item and are allowed to handle it as they would in a shop[11]. Hypershell’s UK policy says it applies in addition to statutory rights and doesn’t limit rights that can’t be waived[3]. How that applies to an activated exoskeleton is a question to put to the seller before you open the box.

Before you open the box

  1. Read the return policy on the brand’s store for your country; the links are in the sources below.
  2. Ask in writing whether you can return an activated unit if it doesn’t fit or suit you, and what that would cost.
  3. Keep every part of the packaging, accessories and manuals until the return window closes. Both brands can refuse incomplete returns[1, 2].
  4. Note how the window is counted: Dnsys counts 14 days from 0:00 on the day after delivery[1]; Hypershell counts 14 calendar days from receipt[2].
  5. Check your measurements against the brand’s size chart before you order: what the brands require.
